Make 2026 Your Best Creative Year Yet
and what you can expect from Nest Creative in 2026 to help you
Welcome. Nest is a home for writers and creatives. A place where we honour creativity and curiosity, and where creative souls can find their voice. Our focus is on writing, but all creatives and like-minded curiosity seekers are welcome. Come join us and build the creative and intentional life of your soul.
It feels like things are beginning to return to normal programming after the holiday season. The overwhelm of the ‘busyness’ of the holidays has passed, and the avalanche of “New Year, New Me”, resolutions, intentions and “Word for the Year” posts have been shared.
Now it feels things are more settled, maybe it’s time to think about what is ahead for you and your writing this year. Not in terms of goals or what you need or want to achieve, but in terms of how you want to feel. How building a creative life and prioritising your writing in 2026 will make you feel. It’s not always about achievements, successes and ticking boxes—although of course, that’s great along the way—but it’s also important to be intentional about why you’re doing this and why it’s important to you.
That’s what I’ve been working on behind the scenes for the past couple of weeks.
2025 was the year I took a step back to look at what I wanted my creative writing life to look like. What my dream day would be, and how I could, with baby steps, work towards it. So in 2026, I’m focusing on what Nest will look like to help me, and in turn help you, work towards your own joyous creative life - no matter what your chaotic life looks like right now.
That’s not to say that we’ll be spending all day, every day in a joyful creative stupor. For 99% of us, that’s not realistic. And as nice as it sounds, I don’t believe it would be as fulfilling as it sounds either.
If there’s anything I’ve learned over the past twenty years working towards bringing writing and creativity to the forefront of my life, it’s that a creative life is a well-rounded life. A mix of work, play, family, friends, hobbies and writing. And it is possible. I promise.
What you can expect from Nest in 2026
Just like life as a whole needs to be well-rounded, Nest needs to provide a well-rounded offering also. So this is what’s in store for this year.
Essays on Mindset and Living a Creative (writing) Life
One of the things I’ve wanted Nest to provide from the outset is a warm space to nurture and encourage writers to feel empowered to prioritise writing and creativity in their lives no matter what their circumstances. I’m a firm believer (in case you haven’t noticed) that everyone deserves the time and space to do things that bring them joy and contentment each day without feeling guilty for doing so or like they need to find huge chunks of time or change their lives completely to do so. I spent a large portion of time in 2025 studying mindset and am now a certified mindset coach, so I’m excited to share what I’ve learned.
In 2026, you can expect more essays, thoughts, ideas and questions on this important topic. Things that will empower, inspire and motivate you and gently ask you questions on what this means in your life.
Essays on writing process and craft
While I don’t want to delve into the ‘How to….’ I do want to share my own thoughts and experience on the writing process. I know I love hearing how other authors and writers approach their work and the different processes that different people follow. I’ll be incorporating what I’ve learned about writing craft and what has worked for me and what hasn’t. The most amazing thing I find is that process changes from time to time, from book to book.
Essays on publishing and the state of the creative industry
Some of my most popular posts last year were the essays I wrote on the state of publishing. I enjoyed writing them too. So expect to see more of the same. These will be less frequent than other topics and will most likely be sparked by something happening at the time. For writers who are looking to publish and step into the industry, as well as those already in the murky waters, it’s important to keep up with how things are evolving and changing. And we all know how fast that is happening at the moment!
Nest will never be instructional. My intention is to provide food for thought, spark new thinking, and motivate you on your own journey. I want readers to come here and feel seen, understood and empowered.
Online Workshops
During the year I’ll also begin offering online workshops. I currently have two in the works. The first one is on goal setting for writers and the second one on mindset based around self-doubt and giving yourself permission to write. These will be 60 minute workshops delivered via zoom and will offer relatable and practical information and tips. You’ll walk away feeling positive and motivated with steps you can put into action.
I have a few more ideas floating around but I’d like to hear what you would like. Is there a topic you’d like to see covered? Something that perhaps you’ve been searching for but isn’t available? Let me know if the comments, or reach out via the chat.
I’ll also be running the 30-day creative journal challenge again too!
So that’s what you’re in for if you stick around here on Nest in 2026, which of course, I hope you do.
Don’t forget I’m always here if you have any questions, want anything covered, or just want to share your story or creative journey.
So, what do you think? Are you in for the long-haul?

Lots of great ideas here, Jodi!
Can't wait to see what Nest brings in 2026! :)
